A Chicopee man appeared in court Monday after he allegedly smashed a beer bottle over a man's head and slashed the man's neck with the broken glass at a gathering at a Westhampton residence on May 4.
Patrick W. Bousquet, 21, of Grape Street in Chicopee, was arraigned in Northampton District Court and was held without bail, according to Mary Carey, the communications director at the Northwestern District Attorney's Office.
The victim of the incident was treated at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where he received six staples to the back of his head and 12 staples to the left side of his neck. Bousquet was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and mayhem, Carey said.
Judge W. Michael Goggins granted the state's request for $10,000 cash bail for Bousquet, but prosecutors also filed a motion to have his bail completely revoked because of his alleged connection with another violent attack.
Bousquet has a case pending in Holyoke District Court where he was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. He allegedly stomped a victim in the head as he was lying on the ground in March 2013, Carey said.
The motion was granted and Bousquet will be held without bail for 60 days. He is due back in court on June 13 for pretrial conference.
