ORE CITY, TX (KLTV) -
The winner of a local city council election will be determined by a coin toss.
Both candidates for a seat on the Ore City City Council have agreed to toss a coin for the spot after election results revealed a tie. City Secretary Gail Weir said election officials failed to count votes placed in one of the ballot boxes.
Before the votes in that box were counted, Steven Heim lead incumbent Jeannette Orms 48-44. On Wednesday, 18 additional votes placed in that box were counted, putting the candidates at 55 votes each.
The coin toss is set to take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night at City Hall.
Weir also said that one ballot box was also omitted while tabulating the results for New Diana Independent School District's bond election.
