Former Gamecocks wide receiver and Green Bay Packers star Sterling Sharpe will be one of the 14 players enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Sharpe, who played with the Gamecocks from 1983 to 1987, was a highly-regarded receiver in his collegiate years and drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 1988 draft.

In seven seasons with the Packers, he became one of quarterback Brett Favre's go-to targets, leading the NFL in receptions three times before his retirement in 1994 due to a neck injury.

Sterling's brother, Shannon Sharpe, was also one of the league's most regarded tight ends.

Sterling joins other notable collegiate players like UNC's Dre Bly and TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson in this year's class.
