The Springfield Jewish War Veterans held their Memorial Day ceremony Sunday morning inside the Jewish Community Center on Dickinson Street.
The group paid tribute by reading the names of department members who have passed away, as well as service men and women who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The veterans said they have seen their numbers dwindle over the years and would like to reach out to those returning from service.
"Now, it's mostly a volunteer Army, Navy and service, so we have fewer numbers," said Stanley Light, commander of Post 26. "Actually, most of the newer veterans too aren't interested in joining a veterans organization once they leave."
If anyone would like to reach out to the Jewish War Veterans, they can be reached at 413-734-2112.
