The Hampden County Sheriff's Department once again took to the baseball diamond on Saturday morning.
The group hosted its annual Badges for Baseball jamboree at the Boys and Girls Club.
The event wraps up the department's yearly inner-city baseball program.
Saturday's jamboree featured pitching, hitting and running competitions.
While the players are learning baseball skills, the department said what is more important is they are learning skills about life.
"If we can help steer them in the right direction and keep them on the right path, the sky's the limit for most of these kids because a lot of these kids do understand the core values that we want to show them," said Patrick Dooney, a correctional case worker for the department.
On Saturday, officials said nearly 100 kids took part in this year's program.
They ranged in age from 9 to 13.
