Posted: Updated:

Springfield firefighters were called to a home at 72 Achushnet Ave. Friday afternoon after a fire broke out in a multi-family home.

This happened around 2 p.m. in the city's South End section.

Thick black smoke covered the entire neighborhood.

"There's too much smoke around here. Hopefully they got everyone out," resident Candace Wilson said.

Officials said everyone was able to make it out of the house safely.

The fire has left about eight people displaced from the home.

Two firefighters received minor burns. They're expected to be OK.

The fire department continues to remain on scene as they investigate what caused the fire.

CBS 3 will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
