Businesses and organizations took to the streets on Saturday in a citywide cleanup effort.
The cleanup began at 10 a.m. in areas around the city, including South Holyoke.
Members of Calvary Bible Church from Whitehouse Station, NJ, joined the local cleanup as part of a 10-day mission trip.
In addition to cleaning up city streets and parks, the impact group will help organizations and homeowners with projects.
"Serving is important, and even though we don't know the people here, they're important," said Ken Staples, associate pastor with the church. "So, this is just to help make their area look a little nicer and hopefully that will be something they continue with."
The church has received assistance from a group of friends in Holyoke before and wanted to repay the service with a trip of their own.
