The Ludlow board of selectmen announced a permanent police chief on Tuesday night.
Chief Pablo Madera had been serving as the provisional chief, but was unanimously appointed chief after public interviews at town hall.
Also up for the position were provisional Lt. Joseph Metcalfe and Sgt. Daniel Valadas.
All three were interviewed by selectmen.
Questions ranged from overtime budget to the issuing of gun licenses.
Madera has been with the department for more than 30 years.
