The fight over who should be serving as Chicopee's Chief of Police continued on Tuesday with both sides heading to Hampden District Court.
The fight began more than a year ago when then-Mayor Michael Bissonnette promoted Thomas Charette to the chief position.
In March, the Civil Service Commission ruled that candidate William Jebb was more qualified for the position based on an independent assessment and interviews, and said that the decision was politically motivated.
The city is moving forward with the process of selecting a permanent police chief, but the judge asked it to hold off on picking a candidate until he can make a decision.
