Springfield firefighters extinguished a blaze inside Northstar Pulp & Paper on Guion Street this morning.
According to Dennis Leger, aide to Commissioner Joseph Conant, there were three employees inside the recycling facility when the fire was reported at 8:41 a.m. Leger confirmed the fire was resisting water so fire retardant was used as well.
With no serious injuries, first responders treated the employees for smoke inhalation.
The damage was confined to the piece of machinery inside the company's facility. No damage estimate has been reported.
