The city of Springfield is trying to get a historic building back after they said the company in charge of its restoration has violated their contract.
Springfield officials tell CBS 3 that they've filed a breach of contract complaint in Hampden County Superior Court against 195 State Street Real Estate LLC.
They say the company was supposed to transform 195 State Street into an apartment building, housing 35 units of market rate housing, but that never happened.
According to the contract, the company was given 18 months back in 2011 to complete the renovations after they bought the building for $1.
But work has been stalled for months.
Springfield officials are now hoping to get the building back and complete the redevelopment.
