Springfield police investigating fatal shooting

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

UPDATE: Police confirm to CBS 3 that the 27 year old male victim has died from his injuries.

Dozens of police responded to a shooting in Springfield Saturday night.

Police tell us a man was shot near 140 White Street just after 9 p.m., near the Golden Eagle Apartment Complex.

Yellow crime scene tape lined the street and our crew on scene did see an ambulance leave that location.

Our media partners Mass Live and the Republican say a Shotspotter activation in the area reported five gun shots.

Police are looking for the suspect who they say is a Hispanic or light-skinned black male with a full beard wearing a white t-shirt, light-colored shorts and was heading toward Grant Street.

They say the suspect may be in possession of a revolver.

If you have any information, contact the Springfield Police Detective's Bureau at (413) 787-6355.
