Fruit recall expanded due to listeria concerns

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A recall concerning fruits possibly contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes has been expanded.

The recall includes peaches, nectarines, pluots and plums distributed from Wawona Packing Co., based in California, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

CNN reported possibly contaminated fruits were sold between July 1 and July 21 at retailers nationwide including Costco, Kroger, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Ralph’s, Food 4 Less and Walmart, which also operates Sam's Club stores.

The FDA also said made-in-store items such as cakes, tarts, salsas and prepared salads were sold in Whole Foods Market stores using Whole Foods Market scale labels are also included in the recall.

The FDA advises anyone who purchased these products to throw them away. Customers who have a receipt can take it to the store where the products were purchased to receive a refund.
