The thunderstorms that came through Western Massachusetts around midday on Sunday were a cause for concern.
At 3:44 p.m. the National Weather Service confirmed the reports of a funnel cloud in the Springfield and Ludlow area.
They said it occurred from 12:40 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Sunday.
Confirmation was made after investigating reports from trained SKYWARN spotters, Massachusetts State Police and emergency management.
The area in question is the Exit 4 and 5 vicinity of Interstate 291 and the Fuller Street area of Ludlow.
