Boston Road reopens after gas leak

Posted: Updated:

Boston Road has reopened after an evacuation was ordered due to a gas leak.

This all happened in the area of 1600 Boston Road around 2 p.m.

Construction crews have been conducting road work in the area, and reportedly struck a gas line this afternoon.

Executive Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger tells CBS 3 that buildings in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

The leak also caused traffic problems in the area.

That leak has since been repaired.
