WILBRAHAM, MA (WSHM) -

A late-model Volvo burst into flames on Boston Road around 4 p.m. Thursday, and police say they've now charged the driver with drunk driving.

Wilbraham fire officials told CBS 3 that the driver veered off the road and hit a curb and grazed a utility pole which damaged the engine compartment. The fluids that the vehicle spilled caused the car to burst into flames.

The incident occurred near the Soja & Abbott law firm located at 2022 Boston Rd.

Authorities closed a portion of the road and fire crews worked to extinguish the flames.

CBS 3 obtained exclusive eyewitness video from the scene.

Police say they arrested Mario Varzeas, 22, of Wilbraham for operating under the influence and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

No one was injured.
