Police are looking for Roy Moriarty, 35, of Springfield.

Less than two weeks ago, Moriarty and his wife got into an argument at their home on San Miguel Street.

The wife told police he asked her to choose between him or her dog, a Jack Russell and Chihuahua mix, named Moosh.

Sgt. John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department told CBS 3 that Moriarty then slammed the puppy against the wall and walked out.

The wife called police who say the dog was in rough shape.

"Probably no more than a few weeks old and unconscious, not breathing," Sgt. Delaney said.

K9 officers quickly responded and brought Moosh to Boston Road Animal Hospital.

"The female credits the officer for saving the young puppy's life," Sgt. Delaney said.

Moosh is now recovering at home with his owner.

Police have yet to find Moriarty, who is wanted for animal cruelty in Springfield and for assault and battery charges in Palmer.

"Hopefully somebody watching this will know where he is and notify the Springfield police department of his whereabouts," Sgt. Delaney said.

If you have any information on Moriarty, call the Springfield police department's detective bureau at (413) 787-6355 or dial 911.
