Last month, a group Western Massachusetts residents gathered to protest the possible use of Westover Air Reserve Base as a location to house illegal immigrant children.
The group was back out at the Route 33 rotary on Sunday afternoon despite the fact that this past week federal officials said the base will not be used to house the immigrants.
Sunday's protesters said this is a bigger issue than just one base in one town.
"The issue is still very much with us," said Richard Howell, a Wilbraham resident. "The border is still very porous; it's dangerous. What's happening in the Middle East and having terrorists coming over the border, that has not changed. And the illegals are still up here, so it hasn't gone away, and we aren't going to go until we clean up the mess."
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, states are no longer needed to house the illegal immigrant children, as the number of unaccompanied minors along the border has dropped.
