Parents who still need to take their kids back to school shopping might want to head to the stores Saturday, Aug. 16 and Sunday, Aug. 17. Massachusetts lawmakers have chosen this weekend to be tax-free on sales, but there are some restrictions.
Beatriz Astwood said she has been waiting to buy bigger household items, like a washer and dryer.
"Even if I save $75 or $100, I'll be happy," said Astwood.
But any item above $2,500 does not qualify. Manny's TV & Appliances said tax-free weekend is one of their biggest times of the year.
"We look forward to this every year, we do the mini-fridge and televisions for the dorms but the majority people are in here buying the big items for their homes. They're preparing for kitchen remodels," said George Rodriguez.
