The Mass Mutual Center was the site of a first-ever touch-a-truck event that gave attendees an interactive experience with different vehicles.
Those vehicles were brought in by community partners such as Springfield police and fire departments, the American Red Cross and even the CBS 3 Springfield mobile newsroom.
While the event was free, Global Spectrum and the Mass Mutual Center were still able to give even more back for a great cause.
"With this event specifically, we're donating all our proceeds to the Shriners Children's Hospital," said Kenneth Velez, marketing manager for the Mass Mutual Center. "So, all of our raffle prizes and money from that, sponsorship money we get, it's all going to charity, and that's why we're able to put on this free event."
Velez added that fellow organizers were pleased with the turnout and that it showed the event can grow in the future.
