Neighbors say a girl no more than 10 years old was hit by a car they claimed was speeding on Northampton Avenue about noontime Wednesday.
The accident happened less than 100 yards from the playground at Gunn Square.
Witnesses told CBS 3 that when the girl was hit she flew into the air. She suffered injuries to her torso, but she was alert when paramedics were treating her. The child was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Police on scene were speaking to the driver involved in the accident. Neighbors say speeding is a constant issue on Northampton Avenue.
