Police say two fugitives are behind bars after their roommate saw their pictures in a news report and called investigators.
Authorities say 23-year-old Kyle Ashton Huthmacher and 20-year-old Jennifer Helen Jadick were arrested Thursday night by the Summerville Police Department.
Huthmacher and Jadick's arrest stems from a Charleston police investigation where nearly $3,000 worth of stolen items were found at a home in West Ashley earlier this month.
On Thursday night, a Summerville police officer responded to a home on Dorchester Road in connection to two people wanted for a larceny. The officer then met a man who said he saw his two roommates on Live 5 News, and that they were wanted for larceny.
The officer then pulled up a picture of the two suspects on the Live 5 News app, and the man confirmed their identity.
The man told the officer that the suspects were inside his apartment. When the officer entered the home, he saw Huthmacher and Jadick sitting on the couch.
A police report states Jadick said,"I know why you're here, we have warrants."
The officer positively identified the man and woman as Huthmacher and Jadick, and placed them into custody.
Huthmacher and Jadick were arrested in connection to an investigation by the Charleston police on Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. when police officers were conducting a search of a home on Ashley Hall Road and discovered $2,600 worth of stolen items.
The items were reportedly taken during four burglaries between June 28 and July 16.
In the living room of the apartment, investigators found a number of stolen items including a 60-inch television, an Xbox and a surfboard.
In addition, authorities say they found a computer tablet and cell phone which were also reported stolen.
A police report states Huthmacher and Jadick were found in the apartment, and both were originally brought in for questioning and released.
Huthmacher has been charged with receiving stolen goods, and Jadick is charged with property crime enhancement.
