NOGALES, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Authorities have now confirmed the identity of a woman found dead in a wash a few miles inside the U.S. border at Nogales.

Karla Salazar, 43, was swept away last week during a monsoon storm in Sonora, Mexico, according to officials.

Salazar's body was taken to the Pima County Medical Examiner to be identified and it has now been returned to Mexico for burial.

Officials said Salazar was driving with her husband and her 8-year-old son when their SUV got stuck in flood waters.

Her son and husband were able to escape.
