Tucson family turning tragedy into change for community

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A fundraiser was held today at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park on the east side of Tucson.

On what should have been Austin Fitzgerald's 20th birthday Saturday, his family is working to raise $50,000 to put towards major renovations at the dog park for everyone to enjoy.

Austin died late last year after battling with acute lung failure.

Austin's sister, Sarah Fitzgerald, said her brother had a passion for dogs.

“It's not just for our family or Austin,” Sarah Fitzgerald said Saturday. “This is somewhere people can enjoy time with their dogs. They can come and remember people they love. They can come and remember Austin. It's improving something that other people in the community use.”
