MAUD, TX (KSLA) -
It is not unusual for family and friends to honor the arrival of a new child with a baby shower, but in one East Texas city a baby shower was taken to another level.
The Maud, Texas school cafeteria was the place to be this afternoon as residents of the Bowie County town held a citywide baby shower. Hundreds came to give support to Stephen and Michelle Seals and the “Fab Five.”
Earlier this year Michelle Seals' gave birth to quintuplets in a Dallas hospital. The five babies spent several weeks in the hospital but are now home in Maud. Today was the first opportunity the community officially congratulated the Seals and Bowie County latest celebrities.
“All of the churches here in Maud have worked together and so has the community,” said Joan Brown, who coordinated the event. “And we have had a very, very good response.”
Michelle Seals said the babies are all doing well, but it was still too early to bring them out into a crowd of people.
“And we're just thankful for all the gifts people have given us to help out,” she said.
Event coordinators said people can still help the Seals family by sending donations to the Maud Church of Christ atP.O.O Box 25, Maud, Texas.
