Bad weather off shore is hampering efforts to bring a wrecked shrimp boat back to port Monday.
Three people had to be rescued Sunday night when the 74-foot boat collided with a 130-foot offshore supply vessel, the Gloria May. It happened around 10:40pm.
The three people on board were able to get in a life raft, and they were actually picked up by The Gloria May. No injuries were reported.
The shrimping vessel had about 10,000 gallons of diesel and 200 gallons of oil on board, but officials say none of it leaked.
Coast Guard Public Information Officer Lt. Bradley Parker from the Mobile Office said the boat's owners are working with a salvage company to assess what can be done with the damaged vessel.
The Gloria May was damaged, but seaworthy, and returned to port.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
