SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -
Candidates for public office joined a community forum Tuesday evening at the Forest Park Middle School.
Those running for State Senate in the First Hampden-Hampshire District, State Representative in the Tenth Hampden District, as well as Hampden County District Attorney and Register of Probate turned out.
The event was put together by the Forest Park Civic Association.
President of the group, Laura Walsh, tells CBS 3 the event was organized to keep residents informed ahead of the September primary.
"I know that campaigns really run on name recognition and we want to make sure that every candidates' name is out there so people can make the best, informed decision. It's really important that everyone gets out to vote but also that they make informed decisions," Walsh said.
Candidates each spoke for three minutes about their initiatives and then met individually with constituents.
