A former Henry County Sheriff's Office captain has been granted bond after he was arrested for trying to have sex with a 14-year-old boy, according to a spokesperson with DeKalb County police.
Authorities said Captain David McCart was arrested on Aug. 26 and charged with one count of computer pornography and child exploitation.
McCart went to DeKalb County and tried to have sex with the teen, although he never made contact with the boy, according to police.
Computers and cell phones were taken from his home by police.
Sheriff Keith McBrayer said he fired McCart Wednesday afternoon. McCart had been with the department for more than two decades.
In court Thursday morning, McCart was granted a $25,000 bond. Stipulations to the bond include he have no contact with anyone under 17, supervised access to the Internet, and his attorney said he will get rid of his smart phone.
