Chiefs release Succop, among others, to meet NFL mandate

Posted: Updated:
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Kansas City Chiefs announced roster moves Saturday, including the release of 17 players in order to meet the NFL's mandated 53-man roster limit.

Additionally, the team has placed two players on injured reserve and one on the non-football injury list.

Among those on the list is kicker Ryan Succop.

"As a collective football operation, coaches and scouts have held numerous discussions on each player during the evaluation process," Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey said. "We had excellent competition at every position and that's a great thing, but today we had to make some difficult decisions to narrow our roster to 53. We appreciate all the time and effort these young men put in for us and wish them all the best."

Below are the roster moves that took place.
