After the flames and smoke have cleared, the clean up process begins at Clara's East Assisted Living Facility in Highland Springs.

Henrico fire investigators tell us that 51-year-old James Miles Junior set fire to his bedroom inside the home, a safe haven for those with mental illnesses.

"We all is human, we go through things depression and emotional stress, but you never know what is in somebody's mind," Justin Morris said.

Justin Morris an administrator at the assisted living home says Miles seemed to be in good spirits before the incident happened.

"He was fine yesterday, we talked and ate and then during the night he went out and came back and set his room on fire," Morris said.

The other men living at this home have been taken to another facility. The administrator in good spirits tells us he is just thankful everyone made it out of the home okay.

"The staff was readily on his job and got everybody out safely and nobody was hurt thank God," Morris said.

Morris went on to tell us that Miles was distraught and upset. Investigators are still trying to figure out just how the blaze started. We were told that most of the damages were confined to Miles' room.

Morris doesn't believe that others in the area have reason to be alarmed. He says Miles is sick and like others in their program, he is being taken care of.

"The guy does have a mental illness, I'm sure he can't help it," Morris said.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. We were told that there were no injuries.
