SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A local doctor who has a personal relationship with Doctor Rick Sacra, the Massachusetts doctor who tested positive for Ebola, is speaking out exclusively to CBS 3.

Dr. Jackson Williams is a pediatric hospitalist at Baystate Medical Center, who has traveled to Liberia, and has worked closely with Dr. Sacra who is now battling the deadly disease.

Williams tells CBS 3 Sacra was actually the first doctor he met before going to Liberia himself.

Williams calls Sacra a friend and a mentor.

"He's an absolutely fantastic physician, really nice person and he's impressively dedicated a large portion of his career over the last 20 years to working in Liberia," Williams said.

Dr. Williams has previously spoken to CBS 3 Springfield about his own travels to Liberia, watch that interview here.
