SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police are looking for 45-year-old Melissa McLeod and they need your help.

In June, police say McLeod gained entry into an Elliot Street building and right into the apartment that belonged to a 72-year-old man, who she knew.

"The door was left unlocked, she walked in and she demanded money," Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney said.

When the man refused to give her any, she allegedly punched him and broke his phone.

She's wanted for assault and battery on a person over 60 years old and for intimidating a witness.

Police say this is not her first offense.

"Just looking at Ms. McLeod's history with the Springfield Police Department, she is a frequent flyer," Sgt. Delaney said.

In May of 2011, police say McLeod woke up her ex-boyfriend at his home on Hancock Street with a kitchen knife, attacking him at 3 a.m.

He called police and she was arrested, but she has since defaulted her case.

McLeod's last known address was 51 Knot Street in Springfield, but police say she is no longer living there.

If you know the whereabouts of Melissa McLeod, contact the Springfield Police Department's Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355 or dial 911.
