PITTSFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

State police arrested two Pittsfield men who were in possession of heroin after they were pulled over while driving with a 6-year-old in the car Wednesday night.

A trooper pulled over a Honda Civic driven by 30-year-old Lawrence W. Boos Jr. after he ran a red light on First Street at about 8:40 p.m.

After an investigation, police officials say the trooper found both Boos and the passenger, identified as 31-year-old John McNulty, to be in possession of heroin.

McNulty was allowed to leave the scene with the juvenile, but he was charged possession of a class A substance (heroin), being present where heroin is kept and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Boos was charged with possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute (heroin), possession of a class B substance, being present where heroin is kept, conspiracy to violate drug laws and failure to stop for a red light. He was taken to the Cheshire state police barracks for booking after his arrest.
