SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno first announced he plans to seek re-election in 2015 during an exclusive one-on-one interview with Cherise Leclerc in the CBS 3 Springfield studio on Thursday.

Sarno will seek his fourth term as mayor of Springfield in the November 2015 election. The Springfield native was first elected mayor in 2007.

In recent years, Sarno has been committed to his war on crime and to promoting jobs and economic development in the Springfield area.

In 2013, Sarno selected MGM as Springfield's sole competitor for the Western Massachusetts gaming license. He has been a strong supporter of MGM Springfield's $800 million casino / resort proposal, mainly because of the jobs that MGM will bring to the city.
