SPRINGFIELD, MA (AP) - Charlie Baker is making his first foray into western Massachusetts as governor-elect.

The Republican has closed-door meetings planned for Friday morning with West Springfield Mayor Ed Sullivan and Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno.

Baker is expected to make public statements after each meeting.

Baker narrowly defeated Democrat Martha Coakley by about 40,000 votes in Tuesday's election.

Baker is a supporter of the state's gambling law, and MGM resorts has been given the go-ahead by state gambling regulators to build an $800 million resort casino in Springfield.

He is scheduled to meet later in the day with Worcester area officials at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
