WESTFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

State police seized 2 kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop on the Mass Pike in Westfield Tuesday night.

Trooper Andrew Cornell of the State Police Barracks in Charlton stopped a Mitsubishi Outlander on Interstate 90 westbound at about 10 p.m. for motor vehicle violations.

The driver was identified as Ammar K. Brown, 35, of Schenectady, NY.

During the investigation, Cornell and Sgt. Todd Renaud found approximately 2,000 grams of what was believed to be cocaine inside of the Mitsubishi SUV, according to state police officials.

Brown was taken into custody and brought to the Westfield Barracks for booking. He was charged with trafficking cocaine and speeding and held on $50,000 bail.

Brown was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday morning in Westfield District Court.
