A Chicopee man was struck by a vehicle near Ray Ash Park and taken to an area hospital with injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the victim was in and out of consciousness when emergency crews arrived on scene following the accident.
They say he is being held overnight at the hospital with a head injury.
According to police, the driver who allegedly struck the pedestrian, drove himself to police headquarters and is being questioned by police.
Officials say detectives continue to work on the case to determine a cause of the accident.
The accident happened on Arcade Street, which remained closed while police investigated the crash.
The accident scene was cleared at about 4:30 p.m.
