Bill Bulman puts gasoline into his RV on Monday night in Palmer, MA.
PALMER, MA (WSHM) -
Western Massachusetts residents prepared for the recent winter snow storm in various ways.
Bill Bulman, a Palmer resident, was well-suited for the storm with a fully-furnished RV just feet away from his home.
"With the camper we were actually able to have an auxiliary home in case we lose heat, electricity or what not,” Bulman said. "If we lose power, I've got a refrigerator in here that runs off propane so I can put all the meats and perishables in that."
We caught up with Bulman originally on Monday night while he was fueling up the camper.
The camper advertised plenty of bells and whistles including a generator, queen-sized bed, cable and wireless internet access.
After reaching back out to Bulman nearly a half-day later, the winter storm was not severe enough for the RV to be necessary.
However, the size of the vehicle served a purpose.
"I pulled it close to the house to keep snow drifts off of the basement windows on that side," Bulman said.
The RV will remain fully stocked in case of another winter storm threat.
"Next winter storm it's all ready to go.' Bulman continued.
“If we need it or if no more winter storms come, in March, April we'll be able to just leave on a weekend and go,” Bulman said.
