Water flooded a portion of West Street in Ludlow on Monday afternoon, making travel in the area extremely dangerous.
Ludlow police arrived on scene at about 3:30 p.m. after a fire hydrant began to leak.
Police say to avoid West Street from West Avenue to the Springfield city line.
Extremely cold air and pavement temperatures will cause the water to rapidly freeze.
