SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield College introduced the newest member of the Men's Baseball team today.

The team adopted 7-year-old Blake Pierce for the upcoming season.

Pierce is battling leukemia and through the partnership with Team IMPACT, he was introduced with a “Draft Day” welcoming.

Pierce officially was welcomed to the team who presented him with his own uniform.

Team IMPACT is a non-profit organization designed to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses by matching kids with local college athletic teams.

This is the third separate occasion in which Springfield College Athletic Teams have been involved with Team IMPACT.
