Rt. 75 in Agawam reopens following gas leak repairs

A gas leak was reported on Suffield Street in Agawam at about 11:45 a.m., which forced police to closed about 3/4 of a mile of the roadway. A gas leak was reported on Suffield Street in Agawam at about 11:45 a.m., which forced police to closed about 3/4 of a mile of the roadway.

Route 75 was closed just south of Southgate Plaza from Adams Street to Centerwood Drive on Tuesday afternoon due to a gas leak.

Agawam police responded at about 11:45 a.m. and closed the 3/4 of a mile stretch of the road in both directions after a contractor struck the gas pipe. 

The gas leak was repaired by about 1:30 and the road was scheduled to reopen shortly after. 

Nine customers were without gas while repairs were made.

Columbia Gas crews were on scene after receiving reports of the leak.
