Masked men steal keys but no vehicle from restaurant in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police responded to an attempted armed robbery and carjacking at a restaurant on State Street Monday night.

Springfield Police Captain Trent Duda confirmed to CBS 3 that four masked men attempted to steal a car from a Chinese restaurant at 880 State Street shortly before 7 p.m.

Police say one man had a shown a handgun but investigators determined no shots were fired. The four suspects only made off with the keys of a vehicle.

No one was injured during the altercation and according to police no money had been taken.

Police are continuing to investigate.
