Noble Hospital and Baystate Medical Center discussing partnership

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) - Noble Hospital in Westfield may soon partner with Baystate Medical Center.

The board of trustees of both hospitals authorized the potential partnership.

It will take months before any deal would become official and for now,  everything will operate as usual for both hospitals.

The hospitals already have a history of working together in several areas.

They say the partnership will give patients more options.

"It allows us to keep local care local and then keep the beds in Springfield open for the more complicated stuff," said Dr. Mark Keroak, the president and CEO of Baystate Medical Center.

"I believe the brightest future for Noble, our employees, our patients and our community lies in partnership with a high-quality and well-integrated academic health network such as Baystate Health," said Ronald P. Bryant, president and CEO of Noble Health Network. "We look forward to advancing our discussions to determine the best course forward for Noble and for our community."

Dr. Keroak says staff members at the two hospitals are getting to know each other and will try to coordinate new programs based on each others strengths.
