Springfield police arrested three men Thursday night with several guns and drugs, including heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
Police had been investigating subjects at a safe house at 132 Malden St., and officers learned one of the men, Francisco Solano-Sanchez, 38, was going to that address to pick up heroin to make a delivery in the city.
Officers followed Solano-Sanchez from a store at 314 Bay St. to the safe house and observed him enter the basement apartment and leave a short time later.
They followed him as he drove away, and attempted to pull him over on Hickory St., however Solano-Sanchez tried to flee.
He crashed his car on Hayden Ave., then ran off.
Detectives chased him and said they saw him throw a large bag of heroin as he ran.
Officers tracked him down and recovered the bag, which contained 11 grams of pure heroin.
Another team of officers returned to the Malden St. apartment and arrested two other men who were there, Eddy Cruz-Del Orbe, 30, and Jose Tavaras-Dejesus, 35.
Inside the residence, detectives discovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol grip shotgun, a Smith & Wesson M&P .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, a Ruger .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, a Glock .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun, 358 rounds of ammo, 57 shotgun shells and 50-round Glock magazines.
Additionally, officers found a stash of drugs, including 51 grams of pure heroin, 10 bags of heroin, packaging materials for heroin, two grams of powder cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana and $985.
Solano-Sanchez, Cruz-Del Orbe and Tavaras-Dejesus are each facing 11 drug and weapons charges, while Solano-Sanchez is facing four additional charges relating to his run from police.
The three are scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Friday.
