Alleged killer remains jailed following arraignment in Springfield

Detectives investigate after a 26-year-old man was stabbed to death in the parking lot of the Friends of the Homeless facility at 769 Worthington St.
Jose Ramos, 34, was arraigned in Springfield District Court on Wednesday in connection with the stabbing death of 26-year-old Luis Sanchez.

Two people were stabbed to death in Springfield in unrelated incidents late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, the city's fifth and sixth homicides of 2015.
While police are still searching for one suspect, a man was arraigned in connection with one of the homicides in Springfield District Court on Wednesday.
Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney said that a 29-year-old woman was stabbed inside of an apartment at 356 Belmont Ave. at about 1:15 a.m. She died from her injuries at an area hospital.
Another man and woman were both stabbed during the melee, but they were able to escape the residence and were found by responding police. The Springfield Police Department Detective Bureau is currently investigating all three stabbings. No arrests have been made.
Just hours before, Officers were called to the scene of another stabbing in the parking lot of the Friends of the Homeless facility at 769 Worthington St.
Delaney said the victim, identified as 26-year-old Luis Sanchez, was stabbed and died of his injuries.
Springfield police arrested Jose Ramos, 34, in connection with the murder. Police say he was staying at the Friends of the Homeless Shelter.
Ramos was arraigned on Wednesday morning. He was held without the right to bail and had his case continued until April 9.
