SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police are currently investigating a shooting in the city's Bay neighborhood.

The shooting took place at about 6 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Oak Grove Avenue and Burr Street across from Hennessey Park.

Police say bystanders near the Brother's Market told them there was a disturbance on the corner prior to the shooting.

Springfield Police sergeant John Delaney told CBS 3 two people were shot. A 37-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 29-year-old man was shot in the foot.

One of the men was taken to Mercy Medical Center in a private car, while the other victim was taken from the scene in an ambulance. Neither victim is cooperating with police at this time.

Detectives and patrolmen were on Cambridge Street for an earlier call that shots were fired at a car when they heard the shooting on Oak Grove and Burr Street. They say this was a gang-related shooting and one of the victims was targeted.

No arrests have been made at this time. Police are continuing to investigate.
