SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield firefighters responded to a car on fire in the city's Indian Orchard neighborhood on Friday night.

Dennis Leger, aide to Springfield fire commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that firefighters found a 2008 Chevrolet Impala with the interior on fire shortly before 11 p.m.

The vehicle was abandoned in the middle of the road and a gasoline can was found a few yards away.

“This car was reported as stolen and the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad has determined this to be a set arson fire,” Leger said.
