2 shot, stray bullet hits gas valve causing leak in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Two men were brought to a local hospital after being shot while walking down Alden Street in Springfield.

Police say the shooting occurred just after 6:00 p.m. Monday.

A 23-year-old was shot in the calf and a 33-year-old was shot in the foot. Both men were treated for their injuries and released.

A stray bullet also hit a gas meter pipe on a nearby house. Police were able to shut the gas off to the home.

The gas company responded and replaced the damaged pipe.

Police believe the shooting was gang related.
