Among the treats highlighted Tuesday were his thick and fudgy brownies. That recipe appears below:

  • Bake time: 20-30 min
  • Cool time: 30 min

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate (chopped)
  • 2 sticks + 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup chocolate chips, chopped nuts, candy (optional)

Preheat oven to 350.

Grease and line a 9x13 baking pan.

Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

Melt the butter and chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, (melt in 30 second intervals so you don't burn the mixture). let the chocolate butter mixture sit for 3-5 minutes to cool.

Add the sugar, vanilla, and eggs; mix until combined.

Slowly begin to add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture. Mix until no streaks of flour remain.

Pour the mixture into your prepared pan, spread the mixture evenly into the pan and add toppings if desired. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the edges are set.

Cool for 30 minutes before serving and enjoy.

Makes: 12/24 brownies
