WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

State police unsuccessfully searched for a woman who they say fled the scene of a rollover accident on Interstate 91 northbound Tuesday night.

Troopers arrived to the accident scene just before exit 14, the Mass Pike interchange, shortly after 8:30 p.m. They closed down the middle and right lanes of the highway until the Ford Explorer that was involved in the accident was towed from the scene.

A K-9 unit was called in to help locate the driver, who was described as a woman with red hair. Police believe she was not seriously injured because she was able to run from the scene.

State police called of the search for the driver at about 10:30 p.m., but police plan to contact the registered owner of the SUV.

No other injuries were reported.
